The “New” Boys’ Room

I titled this post the new boys’ room…and then realized that I didn’t take any before pictures. So unless you’ve been to my house, this might not be as exciting to see…oops!

That’s what I get for waiting to do this at 37 weeks pregnant, huh? Brent and I were talking today at lunch about how we have really put things off this time around until the last minute. But that’s probably pretty normal when you have another one under two in the house.

(and I feel better reading about other Mommy bloggers in the same situation as we are feeling the same way…)

Anyway, without further ado, here’s the new room…without the before pictures…

That accent wall used to be bright red. And the other walls were white, which really made the red wall pop. We knew we’d need to re-paint the room before trying to sell the house, so doing it now to make it “their” room instead of just Tanner’s room sorta killed two birds with one stone. Our realtor was the one who suggested that we go with a dark brown color that would easily cover the red…and we went ahead and painted the other walls too. Just to give it all a fresh look.

Getting a crib, rocker, dresser, and a bed into the small room was a little difficult. Tanner slept on a queen-sized bed before, and he’s having to move down to a twin just to make it all fit in there. He hasn’t been here yet, so we’ll see how that adjustment goes. Plus, we’re not entirely sure how he’s going to like sleeping with an almost two year-old in the same room…but he wanted to share his room when we gave him the option, so that’s what we went with.

I’m glad to report that Jax likes his new room. I was worried that he would be a little concerned about this change, but he’s handled it like a champ! He’s slept in there for the past two nights, and after the first night, I have to say (hopefully without jinxing myself) that he sleeps better NOT in our room. He’s still adjusting to the whole “go to sleep” process that’s all different in a new room and rocker, but he’ll get it down in a few days. Hopefully.

In fact, he slept later this morning than he’s slept…EVER!!! Hopefully that’s a trend that will also continue, as I could use the extra time in the mornings to devote to Little Miss here pretty soon…
